Name: Salt Cod
Ingredients:
- 1 box salt cod
- milk
- 5 tablespoons margarine
- 5 tablespoons flour
- corn starch as needed
- pepper to taste
- parsley if desired
Instructions:
- Soak cod 1/2 day
- Slowly bring to a boil, but don't boil
- Then pour water off and repeat until not too salty; Test carefully
- Add a little water and simmer in frying pan until tender
- Add a little milk and pepper
- Make white sauce (2 1/2 cups)
- Melt 5 tablespoons margarine
- Slowly add 5 tablespoons flour until smooth
- Remove from heat, add milk and stir
- Bring to a boil for about 1 minute
- Thicken with corn starch if desired
- Add fish and boiled potatoes to white sauce
- Top with parsley or something if you want
