Name: Crockpot Old-Fashioned Beef Stew
Ingredients:
- 2 lb beef stew meat, cut into 1½ inch cubes
- ½ cup flour
- 2 tbs oil
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 cup beef bouillon
- 1 tbs Worcestershire sauce
- 1 onion, chopped
- 6 carrots, pealed and sliced

- 2 medium turnips, pealed and cut into quarters
- 4 cups water
- 1 tsp sugar
- 12 small white onions
Instructions:
- Coat meat with flour, saving excess flour
- Brown meat in oil in skillet
- Combine all ingredients except small white onions in a slow cooker
- Cook on low for 8-10 hours
- Turn control to high
- Dissolve remaining flour with a small amount of water, and add to pot
- Add small onions
- Cover and continue cooking 10 to 15 minutes, until slightly thickened
Yield: Serves 6 to 8
Comments: 3/5/2015 - I only used 2 potatoes because the crockpot could
not handle more. I cut the turnips and potatoes in eighths, not quarters.
I substituted frozen pearl onions for small white onions. I started late
and only cooked it for about 7 hours but I tried to make up by starting
it on high for one hour. The vegetables were still a little hard when
dinner was served, and the meat was chewy.
