Carl and Victor Holm with a third man (maybe Alec Passamani). A pile of cut firewood is at the left edge of the photo.
They are sawing firewood with a circular saw powered by a car. They would jack up the read wheels of a car to fit a belt around its axle and around a shaft on which a circular saw blade was attached. The saw blades shaft is mounted on a frame, which is in front of Victor in this photo. When the engine is started and the transmission engaged, the axle turns, driving the belt, and spinning the shaft and its saw blade.
The car in the photo appears to be a 1926 or 1927 Ford Model T coupe.
In the 1950s, Victor accidently cut his hand badly on a saw like this, but he did not lose any fingers.
