The participants at the 1997 spring meeting of the American Association of Variable Star Observers titled “Variable Stars: New Frontiers”. The meeting was held over six days at the Kurt Bösch University Institute in Sion, Switzerland. More than 100 amateur and professional astronomers from North America, South America, Europe, Japan, Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand attended.
