Albert Holm exiting the 15th century castle on the hill top at 
<a href="http://www.esa.int/esapub/br/br207/br207.pdf">ESA&#146s Villafranca Satellite Tracking
Station (VILSPA)</a>. 
The <a href="https://science.nasa.gov/missions/iue">International Ultraviolet Explorer (IUE)</a>  
satellite was controlled from VILSPA for 8 hours daily. 
IUE Staff 
from Goddard Space Flight Center visited VILSPA every fall 
for a 3-Agency Meeting to coordinate operational and data processing issues and improvements. 
<p>
The castle was damaged during fighting during Spain&#146s civil war. When the tracking station 
was established, it was necessary to search for unexploded ordinance.
