Infant Douglas Holm asleep in the cradle made by his Grandpa Bob Paton. In the decades since, we’ve learned that soft walls in cradles are unsafe and, especially, that infants should not sleep on their stomach until they can roll over by themselves. Both situations are factors that can lead to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). We are lucky it did not come to that.
